Raffaello Galiotto

He was born in Chiampo (Vicenza) in 1967. After studying Fine Arts in Venice, he founded his own design studio in 1993.

He specialised in designing injection moulded plastic products, and his interest in manufacturing processes and technology later led him to experiment with new solutions and exhibition formats, especially in the field of marble and natural materials.

He designed many products and collections with major companies in the industry, exploring the main features of stone, such as surface, gravity, translucency, colour, the use of digital technology and waste reduction.

During 2011 to 2019 he has taught design at the University of Ferrara; his projects have been published in books and magazines and exhibited in museums and international events. Since 2014, he has been the curator of The Italian Stone Theatre, an experimental hall at Marmomac Verona. He takes part in conferences and gives lectures on stone design at an international level.

His most significant events include “Palladio e il design litico”, Verona, Vicenza, Leeds, Francoforte, 2008; “I marmi del Doge”, Verona 2009; “Luce e Materia”, Verona, Milano, 2011; “Materia Litica”, Verona, 2011; “Raffaello Galiotto, design litico”, Beijin 2011; “Pets Village”, Milano 2011; “Stone Gate”, Verona 2012; “Opus Motus”, Verona, Milano 2013; “Design and Technology”, Verona 2014; “Digital Lithic Design”, Milano, Verona 2105; “Marmo_2.0”, Milano 2016; “The Power of Stone”, Verona 2016; “Digital Design Evolution in natural stone”, Utrecht, The Netherlands 2017; “Macchine Virtuose”, Verona 2017; “Liquido, solido, litico” e “Percorsi d’arte”, Verona 2018; “Natural Things” e “Percorsi d’arte”, Verona 2019;”In our Time”, Verona 2021; “Visionary Stone”, Verona 2022; “Next Creatures”, ADI Design Museum – Milano, Verona 2023; “Viaggio al centro della tavola”, Verona 2024.
